Get Ready For the Revolution!
One week to go until Fashion Revolution Week 2018!
Running from 23rd - 29th April to mark the tragic collapse of the Rana Plaza in Bangladesh on 24th April 2013 where 1,138 people died and another 2,500 were injured, making it the fourth largest industrial disaster in history. The organisers of Fashion Revolution are calling for change, encouraging fashion brands to be transparent in their supply chain, ensure safe working conditions and liveable wages for workers.
When you hear about slave labour, low wages and poor working conditions it often feels difficult to know what to do. That's the great thing about Fashion Revolution, the campaign is also for us as consumers to call out our favourite brands, ask them to make it clear who makes our clothes.
So there are plenty of options if you want to take part:
- Print off the signs or make your own, post a selfie to social media tagging your favourite brands and asking #whomademyclothes
- Spread the word about Fashion Revolution on social media by posting the campaign images
- Hold a clothes swap with friends to refresh your wardrobe without supporting more fast fashion
- Share a fashion love story - fashion can make you feel things, deeply! tell the world how your jacket makes you feel like the coolest person in the room, how you met your best friend while wearing those jeans, how you wore that beanie when you saw your favourite band - fall back in love with your old clothes!
- Find events in your area
There are so many other easy ways to get involved and great resources available to download over at www.fashionrevolution.org - show the garment workers of the world you care by making this year the biggest Fashion Revolution yet!
Stay tuned to the blog for more information, tips and fun stuff to come - up next week you'll see what Velvet Heartbeat has planned for Fashion Revolution! I'm pretty excited!
